Cast your permanent spell, upon entering you exile something and it effectively becomes "imprinted" onto your permanent, and your permanent's rules text tells you how the imprinted card impacts what the card does
Then, if that player did choose to copy the spell, the copy is put onto the stack
The artifact costs two, taps for two, and phases out your dork only, which will keep tokens alive too

The spells you're going to want the most are what are called "removal spells"these are the spells that permanently neutralize your opponent's creatures, by either dealing damage, keeping them tapped, or just straight-up destroying them
