GROTESQUE Maps the Thames and its changingPen and ink on paper. Not signed or dated. Presumed to be c. 1820. Image size: 90 x 90mm 3 1 2 x 3 1 2" approx. Generally good condition. Trimmed out of square from a larger sheet. A caricature of a charming and beautiful grotesque character. Drawn in pen and ink with an economy of line, the figure male? female? wrapped in a voluminous coat, is seated on a stool at a lectern or small writing desk, quill in hand, composing his or her thoughts.
