What is Employee Rostering?
Employee rostering is the process of managing which employees are scheduled for which commute shift, covering shift categories, login and logout timings, and how many seats a given shift can hold. MoveInSync handles this through its Scheduling algorithms, distinct from route optimisation, which plans the vehicle routes those scheduled employees are then assigned to.
How it works
Transport admins define shift categories with their own visibility windows and cutoff times, so a shift only appears to employees within its configured booking window, while Shift Pairing links an employee's login and logout schedules with a configurable minimum time gap to prevent unrealistic bookings. The Schedule Limit feature then caps how many trips can be scheduled per shift category and time slot, keeping demand aligned with available vehicles instead of letting bookings outpace fleet capacity.
Why it matters
- Prevents overlapping or unrealistic shift bookings by enforcing a minimum gap between login and logout schedules
- Caps demand per shift and time slot, so scheduled trips stay aligned with available resources instead of straining the fleet
- Reduces ad-hoc fleet adjustments by mapping logins to logouts in advance rather than reacting to mismatched schedules
